A Radar Performance Monitoring System is connected to the radar and is active during normal radar operation. It measures and reports online measurement results for both the transmitter- and receiver system.

The transmitter (including antenna) is monitored by measuring output- and reflected power. The power sensors are connected to the RF Head
The receiver is monitored by measuring the Noise Figure. Noise is then injected with a noise source connected to the RF Head, and measured at the receiver's IF output.

A complete radar performance system consists of the following components:

- Instrument
- RF Head
- Noise source
- Power sensors
- Cables
